The Lion's share

Though many animals were seen today, the greatest time spent goes hands down to the lions. This morning we met the cubs of the Othawa pride (lionesses we encountered yesterday).

Three cubs belong to eac,h lioness, differing slightly in age. All were bundles of energy and furious activity. Watching their antics, it is easy to identify their common ancestry with their domestic counterparts.

We also had the rare good fortune to come across another mature rhino. Gazing at these splendid animals it is difficult to comprehend the deeply ingrained culture & mindset that fuels the poaching trade.

Next seen were beautiful Burchell's zebra. Each zebra has a distinct,, unique & individualized pattern of stripes, similar to human fingerprints.

Continuing with our leonine theme, we met 2 of the 3 male lions forming the Tumbela coalition & incidentally, the father(s) of the cubs of the Othawa pride

The less dominant of the 2 Tumbela brothers

As we headed back to camp for brunch, we spied a Bateleur eagle high atop a tree
