After a leisurely breakfast , we headed off for Inyati camp. We made a brief stop in Hazyview at an ATM, which allowed everyone to acquire some South African rand for pocket money/souvenirs at the trip's end/ We arrived at approximately 1 and were issued our room keys. After lunch on the veranda we headed out for our first game drive.
I told the kids when we were at home that one of the animals that I really wanted to see was the wild dogs, which we did not see at all previously. One of our first sightings of the afternoon was a pack of dogs that were sleeping. After just a few minutes they started waking up, presumably getting ready to hunt. They were quite beautiful with an impressive alpha male and female. Not only did we encounter them, but we observed some rarely seen behaviors as they began to stir. We saw them regurgitating to feed other dogs/pups. It was exhilarating to watch their interactions and activity levels rise. Hopefully we will see them on subsequent days..
We then came across a breeding group of elephants that very quickly surrounded our jeep. on both sides. To be so close, and hear their rumbling communications was incredible. There were a couple of very young babies in the group.

So glad you saw the wild dogs first day. And baby elephants are one of my favorites--adorable!
